Pedicled pectoralis major transfer for irreparable dehiscence of the deltoid in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty: surgical technique and case report

چکیده
Spontaneous avulsion of the deltoid muscle in cuff tear arthropathy is extremely rare and represents a challenge for reconstruction.13,24 In such cases, primary repair combination with reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) may be at risk failure, as prosthesis’s success relying on functionally elongated deltoid.7,8 Owing to elongation during RTSA, reconstruction under high tension prone failure. Furthermore, deficiency after implantation an RTSA severely limiting complication only few surgical salvage options.

Reverse shoulder arthroplasty for deltoid-deficient shoulder following latissimus dorsi flap transfer. Case report
INTRODUCTION The usual indication for reverse shoulder arthroplasty is glenohumeral arthritis with inadequate rotator cuff and intact deltoid muscle. We report here a case of reverse shoulder arthroplasty using a lattisimus dorsi flap in a patient with deltoid-deficient shoulder following a gunshot injury. PRESENTATION OF THE CASE The patient was an otherwise healthy 51-year-old male with a h...
متن کاملReverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty for the Treatment Of Synovial Chondromatosis: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Synovial chondromatosis affecting the glenohumeral joint is rare. Treatment primarily consists of arthroscopic loose body removal and synovectomy. Shoulder arthroplasty has been mentioned in the literature as a treatment option for patients with coexisting arthritis, although the results have been underreported. The case of an 84-year-old man with long standing synovial chondromatosis of the sh...
متن کاملThe Perioperative Impact of Surgical Case Order in Primary Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
Background: The purpose of this study was to determine a correlation between surgical case order and the length ofoperative time, total length of time in the operating room, time until discharge from the hospital, and the incidence ofintraoperative complications for primary total shoulder arthroplasty cases. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted of records for all individual primary tota...

متن کاملEffect of deltoid tension and humeral version in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty: a biomechanical study.
BACKGROUND No clear recommendations exist regarding optimal humeral component version and deltoid tension in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA). MATERIALS AND METHODS A biomechanical shoulder simulator tested humeral versions (0°, 10°, 20° retroversion) and implant thicknesses (-3, 0, +3 mm from baseline) after reverse TSA in human cadavers. Abduction and external rotation ranges of mo...
